Important Empire style two-module bookcase entirely in walnut and bronze ornaments. Composed of two drawers internally lined with green velvet and in the lower part two doors that can be opened with a bronze key. The bookcase also features the Schmit maison’s emblem.
Made by the renowned Schmit maison founded in Paris in 1818 by cabinetmaker Fréderic Schmit, a pioneer in the elegant, luxury and furniture sector. In 1874 Grégoire Piollet, a merchant and furniture manufacturer, joined the company, so the house changed its name to “Schmit & Piollet”. Around 1876, to prepare for universal exhibitions and meet the needs of customers, the house secured the collaboration of renowned professionals: cabinetmakers, decorators, bronzers, seat carpenters, upholsterers. For the charm of the production, the house won two gold medals at the Universal Exhibition of 1878 and 1889.
